Pop Of Color

Yes, we've been MISSING somewhere between life and its responsibilities laziness.

It's a little hard for me to do a video tutorial because I have a toddler who loves to hog the computer whenever I'm on it. I was in the middle of filming and Lil Princess Star had me at...when I can even see what I was doing. So pictorial it is for this look; it's too easy that a descriptive tutorial shall do it.

This look is a basic look that we women must at least know how to achieve! It is sad that we need makeup to look "healthy" and men can go about without even cleansing their face with a CLEANSER! Yes, life is unfair but I do love being a woman and get my hands dirty and burn holes through my purse to get that MUST HAVE? product even though I will hardly ever use it!

I, Farah, AM A MAKEUP JUNKIE AND I AM PROUD OF IT!!

Ok, so back to our tutorial....

How can you get this look

I told you! It's an easy one and it's FUN!

We always settle for black or brown eyeliner *yawn*. This look is work appropriate; you wouldn't want to have your eyes all blue to match your outfit while you're busy being someone's slave.. SO a DASH of color is PERFECT! and yet again, FUN!

Steps

1) Make sure your face is clean, moisturize and apply primer if you do use it.
2) Apply foundation all over.
3) Apply a highlighter shadow all over your eyelid (please don't go crazy with it, you want it to look subtle). Something like this.

4) Line your upper lash line with a black eyeliner and give yourself wings. For this look, I used a black gel liner with an angle brush. I love angle brush; gives me my desirable cat eyes. (if you need a tutorial on this, let me know!)

5) To the fun part of this tutorial, use a dome brush (something like MAC 219) and dab it into BLUE or GREEN or anything! Yes, I am using from the same palette I used for "Daytime Smokey Eyes". Shady Lady the Balm; When I bought this palette about two years ago, it was RM120 at SaSa. I REALLY like all the colors so I say it's a good buy.

6) Line your lower lash line with the brush - from the outer corner to the inner corner.

7) Apply mascara, fill in your eyebrows, powder your face, blush your cheeks and apply a cotton candy like pink lipstick/lip gloss over your lips. Basically, apply a nude with a hint of pink lip color because you want all the attention on your eyes.

VOILA!

So ladies, no excuses for leaving your house with a naked face. This is an easy look and when you look VaVa Voom, you will feel GREAT!

Some twinks and some frost

Hello loves!

Here is a video i put together for a look i wear pretty constantly. It's so easy to do, but also can be cranked up to look very glamourous. Excuse my eye-liner. It's a little crooked because I wasn't using a mirror to put it on but used my webbie instead. Hope y'all like it :D

Daytime Smokey Eyes

Smokey Eyes is one of my favorite looks. I LOVE it too much! Any eye shapes can pull this off! Smokey eyes are usually dramatic and it looks great at night but if you love it too much, why can't we take a few notch off for the daytime eh? So here is a pictorial make-up tutorial post. I hope this helps!

Prep your skin like how you usually do. This is how I look like under all that makeup; HORROR!!

I'll be using a color from this pallete. Yep, you got that right, ONLY one. =D

The color I'll be using is the one my index finger is pointing to. I chose this one because I have a purple camisole on. One thing great about this color, you can wear with any color. Pretty neutral with a hint of lavender?

I used my fingers (mostly index finger)to apply the eyeshadow. Fingers are like the best makeup tools ever!

Apply color just like so. Remember NOT to apply it all the way to the browbone.

For my lower lash-line, I used this dome brush from MAC to apply the color.

Line your lash-line (upper and lower) with a BROWN eyeliner. Brown eyeliner is softer for daytime which is GREAT! If your eyeliner comes with a smudger, dab it to the eyeshadow and trace it along your lower lash-line (to give that smokey effect).

It should look something like this. Ok, this picture does not give justice. Well you can't ask much from a webcam ;p

Apply mascara to you upper and lower lashes. Don't miss out your lower lashes; they need some love too. =D

And ladies, no point having an awesome makeup going on on your eyelids if your eyebrows look undone. Like so... So, please fill it up with an eyebrow pencil or eyeshadow and an angle brush.

Powder, blush and apply any pinkish-nude lipstick and you're DONE!

I hope this tutorial helps and if you have any questions, do drop a comment and we'll be sure to answer it for you!

Great Foundations Worth Owning

Having a really good foundation is vital; It makes a huge difference to the whole makeup look itself. I've gone through plenty foundations (maybe not as plenty as a professional make-up artist) but plenty enough. There are some I love and would buy it again and some are just NO MORE NEXT TIME! However, even though I tend to like a particular foundation TOO much, I would have it a go for a second time but then I'm off for a new hunt next; I'll usually end up with something better!

So, without further a due, here are my favorite foundations in no particular order.

Dior 'Capture Totale' High Definition Serum Foundation -- I am currently using this and I absolutely LOVE it. I was sold at this product when the Missy at the counter said this foundation contains serum of age defying ingredients (plus she was super awesome with my toddler even though she was making a mess with the makeup stuffs on the dresser). I'm still in my mid-20s but prevention is KEY and you'll be thankful to your young self when you're older. I notice that this foundation has shimmer-sparkly stuffs in it and that my friends, this foundation gives you that radiant GLOW that you've always wanted. This foundation is great for humid climate and looks great in photographs. If you're looking for a foundation, make way to the Dior counter and have the MUA apply this on your skin and you know what I'm talking about. Literally, INSTANT difference! Super 5 STARS from ME!

Dior 'Diorskin Airflash' Spray Foundation -- I've gone through 3 of this baby and I would LOVE a fourth time. The sad part is they don't have this in KL. Booooo.. This foundation gives you a medium to full coverage (depending on how much product you put on). I used this and another foundation on my wedding day and I think my skin looked great that day (even in photographs). My first spray foundation experience and it's the BEST ever. LOVE!

Chanel Teint Innocence Compact Naturally Luminous Compact Makeup SPF 10--I've also had several relationships with this awesome-NESS. I am so happy with this product that I introduced this to my MIL and SIL and they both have gone through their second (or maybe 3rd) round with this. I used this and the DIOR AirFlash on my wedding day and I'm glad I did. This foundation is great for Malaysia's humidity! I really love this product and would go on for more relationships with it but I can't stop my self from trying new foundations after I finished the current. I highly recommend this to anyone. It's great and the compact concept is MEGA-convenience!

So, there you have it, my all-time favorites (as of right now ;p)

The Bare Necessities for the hair

SO..to kick off this blog, I decide to write what accessories I cannot live without. I call these my bare necessities, and I have to have these items with me everywhere I go. They have far exceeded the "Just-in-case-things" that I need, and have turned into my security blanket. I will feel completely naked without it, OR I will feel like I have left a huge part of me in the Sahara desert.

#1 Hair Ties

I practically LIVE in these things. It's like we have made this special covenant and if I break it, I will get cold sweats, shortness of breaths, anxiety attacks and High blood pressure. When I was younger, I used to always have my hair-up. I still tend to do the same thing with my hair now, except if I am feeling extra hardworking in the morning, I'd style my hair, but I still carry these with me everywhere I go. Old habit dies hard. However, as much as I love hair-ties, I have a love hate relationship with them because:

#1 It breaks your hair
#2 Tying your hair leaves a mark when you untie it, which makes hair unattractive-looking.

To solve that issue, I made a habit of bringing these with me everywhere I go

Now with hair clips, hair can be easily pulled up in a elegant bun, or it can be parted effortlessly. And, if you want to don that Snooki hump, you can as well.

I think that accessorizing the hair, can be just as amazing. Look at these models/celebs for inspiration. Shouldn't we all start decorating?
